Verizon fios Verizon FiOS

Verizon FiOS is the first fiber optic service available to consumers that brings fiber all the way to home. Over this advanced fiber optic network, Verizon is able to deliver the fastest consumer internet connection available along with most advanced digital TV service. Internet and TV service can be ordered together or individually. Since Verizon's FiOS network stands to eventually replace the existing copper network, phone service is also provided over the FiOS network. Once fios internet or fios tv is connected to a home, Verizon telephone service is also delivered through the reliable fios network.

To qualify your telephone number or address for FiOS availability, use the online test provided by Verizon: Verizon FiOS Availability Test. For more information on ordering FiOS TV or Internet, choose one of the following:

Deployment of the Verizon FiOS network has been hindered by the necessity for franchise agreements from local governments and lobbying by local cable companies. In many areas the Verizon FiOS network is in place, but service is limited to fios internet only, due local regulations. The addition of FiOS is good for consumers since it increases competition which usually results in lower overall prices for consumers.

For comparison Verizon FiOS basic internet packages provide 5-10 Mega bits per second download speeds along with 1-2 Mbps upload speeds for just $42.99 per month. In most cases this is faster and cheaper than broadband offerings from cable companies like Comcast. The digital TV service provided by Verizon FiOS starts at $47.99 per month for over 200 channels, with no additional programming charges for HDTV programming.
